National Park, Quaint Town!

I love quaint little towns and Harper's Ferry, WV is one of the most quaint I have seen.
With two rivers melding just below the cluster of buildings dating back to the late 1700's and early 1800's, an awe inspiring church who's steeple rises above the town to give you a glimpse of a hidden treasure from the nearby bridge, and luming mountains with rocky outcrops surrounding it all this town is something to behold!~!
A small section of the town is a National Park. For six, measly, dollars you can visit for three days (it will take you all three days to see all the views, museums, and wonderful historical sites in this town)!!!!!!! A history rich with Civil war battles, John Browns' holdout, and a civil rights movement that I didn't expect in West Virginia!
I hope the pictures do it justice!

Walks

From the town there are several walks you can take: The Appalachian Trail runs right through this area, there is a steep walk up the stairs to the church and on up to Jeffersons' Rock and the local cemetary. There is also a path across the railroad bridge (separated from the tracks by a very tall fence) to the Maryland side of the park. There are biking trails, also.

History within the Park

There is a lot of history to Harpers' Ferry. John Brown, the famous civil rights activist was captured here during the civil war. There was a arsenal here that made the town the booming center of the valley in the early 20th century. The park offers many museums each dedicated to a certain business or infuential person within the town. These are free with park admission and open daily till about 6pm.
