Inverlochy Castle

This is a castle that is in ruin just north of Fort William. It is free to enter and roam about. It sits on a lovely river and offers fabulous views of Ben Nevis and the river. A good afternoon trip or a nice stop over on your way to Inverness or Fort William.

Please be aware that there is also an Inverlochy Castle Hotel...watch your signs as the ones for this castel whill have the Historic Scotland or Trust of Scotland signs.

Neptune's Staircase

What a lovely little area this is to visit. The 8 locks lower the boats over several hundred yards to the river below. The Staircase employees are a wealth of information and this time I was lucky enough to actually see boats passing through the locks.

There are cafes near The Staircase and it offers lovely views of Ben Nevis.

Ben Nevis

This is Scotlands' tallest mountain. Many trekkers climb it each year. I met a group of people that had climbed to the top of it the same day on my last visit in July. Cheers to you all! Bravo! It is very formidable to those of us who don't like heights!

If you like to trek this is one of the must sees in Scotland but PLEASE...Be careful! It is not for amatures.
