Country Fried Chicken - my order - Doha

Country Fried Chicken - my order

Chili's: Grill and Bar Restaurant

Actually Chili's Restaurant has 3 branches in Qatar, but the one we visited was in The Mall. After our zoo visit we head up The Mall (that is the name of the mall) for dinner. Since there are few restaurant to choose from, majority of us voted for Chili's. This was my first time eating at Chili's. Even in the Philippines, I have not tried to eat at this restaurant.

The place was half-full then since it was a weekend and to add up to the excitement, the staff needs to prepare a long long table since we were 20 in the group. We had no problem waiting. We were accommodated easily.

Waiting time for the food to be served is also not bad. While waiting for our order some of us decided to go window shopping first. Our waitress said food will be served in less than 20 minutes and it was done as promised.

Favorite Dish: Country Fried Chicken - served w/country gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet corn on the cob & garlic toast.

Address: Located at the ground floor of The Mall.

CHICKEN ESPETADA - Doha

CHICKEN ESPETADA

Nando's: Chicken Espetada (Roast Chicken)

I have been in Doha for almost 6 months and everytime I visited City Centre, I always wondered why there are so manu customers in this restaurant. At last, we tried it last weekend. I personally did not regret with our decision to eat in this establishment.

We were immediately attended by a Filipina staff. I tried their 2 piece roasted chicken with 2 side dish. I picked rice and coleslaw for side dish. They also served espetada which is a skewered chicken hanging inverted. This is the specialty of the restaurant. They also served soup together with the order.

When ordering, the staff will ask whether you like the food to be normal, mild or super spicy hot.

One thing I do not like the place is the lighting which I considered little bit dark.

They also sell Peri-peri, a condiment with different degree of spiciness.

Favorite Dish: I tasted the chicken liver ordered by my colleague. I will order this in my second visit.

Address: 3rd Level, City Centre, Doha

Comparison: least expensive

Filipino Food Fiesta - Doha
Florian Cafe: Filipino Food Fiesta

Passing by at this cafe, one would not consider that this is a Filipino Restaurant and would think of rather as a French or Italian coffee shop. But because of the patrons sitting inside which are mostly Filipinos, for sure one will know that this is a Filipino restaurant.

Craving for Filipino dishes? They serve bulalo, binagoongan baka, embutido, adobo and others. Situated at the 3rd level of City Centre near the atrium.

Although a Filipino restaurant, there is not even one Filipino waiter serving for customers that's why it lacks the touch of Filipino warm smile and hospitality.

Favorite Dish: Adobong pusit

Price: less than US$10

Applebee: Italian Restaurant

Apple Bee is considered to be an Italian Restaurant, but looking at the list of food in the menu, I would consider it more of an American Restaurant. Food choices includes steaks, salad, some pasta, chicken (different types of cooking), salmon, burgers and sandwiches.

Interior of the restaurant was designed using memorabilias from old movies (posters and picture of actors/actress), sports and music industry.

Most of the staff are Filipinas so we are at home with the restaurant.

(Last Christmas was my fourth time visiting this restaurant)

Favorite Dish: Chicken Mesquite served with mashed potato and vegetables.

Address: 3rd Level, City Center, Doha

Comparison: less expensive than average

Price: US$11-20

Far East Restaurant

Far East Restaurant: Thai Food

a) two-floor restaurant
b) clean and quiet
c) not crowded.
d) lot of food variety (based on what is listed in the menu)

I am not so familiar with Thai foods. I don't even have the chance to eat even once when I was in Manila. They said Thai food are so spicy but I think they are not that spicy.

Mex Chic'Inn: Ole, I love Mexican food!!!

As of this writing, this is so far the latest food establishment at the food court of City Center. I was really planning to eat at this joint since I've learned its opening. I was so fond of eating Mexican even while I'm still at Manila (Mexicali, Tia Maria and Miggy's). Now that they have hear at Doha, my craving for Mexican food was satisfied (at least).

The price is about right because for QR 17, I already had one Burrito Arabia, fries and a cup of Soda. For Burrito Arabia they replaced the ingredient with chopped lettuce and other vegetable instead of mexican rice. Nice taste also.

They also have Nachos, Taco, taco salad, quessadilla, Mexican Double Burger, Mexican,Caesar Salad, chicken drumstick plus cilantro rice, vegetable chicken rice

When we requested for extra jalapeno, salsa and mayonnaise and garlic sauce, they were given at no extra cost. I am not sure if it is really free or maybe is it just because the staff are our kababayan (compatriot).

On a typical weekend, our concern usually in this food court is getting a place to sit as the tables are all occupied on Thursdays and Fridays. Good thing that Mex Chic'Inn has provided 4 tables in front of their store for their customers.

I am not sure if Arabs like Mexican food because most of the customers were either Caucasians and Southeast Asians at the time we ate there.

Favorite Dish: Ultimate Nachos and Burritos

Address: 3rd Floor North Food Court, City Center, Doha

Comparison: less expensive than average

The Facade - Doha

T.G.I. Friday's: American Bar and Restaurant

Typical American Restaurant. We arrived early (7:30pm) that's why the place is not yet full. We immediately had a seat. Our waitress (Gabi) was very prompt in taking first our order for drinks and gave us the time to select from the luscious selections of food. I ordered Combo Fajitas.

While waiting for the order, we watched live tennis game (Roland Garros tournament) in their HD tvs mounted on the wall. I also took the opportunity to initially fill up the survey form.

Although the food was great and the serving is more than enough for my dinner, my dissapointment was the late arrival of my food. My colleagues were almost finish with their food when my food was served.

The good side about is the fast reaction from the restaurant management regarding the feedback I wrote in their survey form. I immediately received a call from Imad that this matter will be looked into and promise to never happen when we decide to come back. We are planning to come next month.

Favorite Dish: Combo (chicken and beef) Fajitas.

Subway: Sandwich

I think this is ideal for weight watchers. For me a 6" sandwich is already enough. Similar to their other stores, there is a choice for the bread -> Honey oat, wheat or sesame

For QR11, for a 6"sandwich. Add QR4 for soda and chips plus a choice of give away ->car sunshade, coffee mug or cap.

Favorite Dish: 6" Turkey Sandwich (number 10) on wheat bread - everything on it except onions.
