Snorkeling in Belize

Belize First Trip 1993

Traveled to Belize from Houston, Texas. From Belize city we took a small boat to the town of San Pedro on Ambergis Caye. Stayed at a small place on the beach called the Conch Shell. No plush rooms, no a/c, but it was what we were looking for. Right on the beach & looking at the barrier reef. Spent about three days snorkling, then headed inland to San Ignacio. We took the regular bus instead of the tourist bus. Again not plush. But we weren't looking for plush. Got a taxi in San Ignacio and went across the border to Guatamala. Shopped a little then spent a couple of days visiting the Mayan ruins. We also rented canoes and rowed down Cha Creek. Very enjoyable.
Ther are plenty of places to stay from low price to high price.

Belize Second Trip 1996

This time we took a plane from Belize City to San Pedro. Stayed at the same place. We didn't go inland this time. Spent all our time diving and eating. Still a great place.
