"Murchison Falls" Murchison Falls National Park by emeybee

Murchison Falls National Park

I spent 3 days at Murchison Falls and had a wonderful time. I don't know much about organizing a trip there, unfortunately, because I went on a group trip arranged through Red Chili Hostel in Kampala. It seemed easier to do that than to rent a car, possibly hire a driver, travel unmarked roads, and so forth. There were independant travelers there though, so obviously it can be done.

There were many animals in the park, apparently not all the "Big 5", but I was perfectly satisified with the "Big 3" and "Mediocre 6" :)

We were able to see giraffes (a LOT), elephants, lions, hippos, water buffalo, and crocodiles.

Also part of the park, or at least very close to it, was a section of the rainforest where they take you chimpanzee tracking.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Animals in the wild instead of a cute zoo habitat, beautiful falls & scenery
  • Cons:Not as extensive as the parks in Kenya apparently... I wouldn't know
  • In a nutshell:What do you mean there's no zookeeper?
