Prora is actually a very small village with no real touristic spots ... but ... Mr. Hitler built here an enormous "hotel" to receive 20.000 people together for holidays at that time. This building is called Colossus of Prora.
In this page you can see some pics of it.
"The town of Prora and the "Colossus of Rügen" - originally intended as a seaside resort of the Nazi organisation "Kraft durch Freude" (KdF) - have become well-known during the past few years and are now a must for everyone visiting the island of Rügen. Prora near Binz lies on Prorer Wiek, the most beautiful bay on the island. Here, between 1936 and 1939, the "Kraft durch Freude"-organisation constructed - and mostly finished - the several-kilometre-long complex of buildings that were to form the resort."

Very interesting - I had never heard of this place before! Thanks for the information.
How bizarre. Thank you for sharing!
One of those places on my list of WW2 sites to visit...I made it to Prora in June, one of those strange surreal places.
Gorgeous photos of this impressive building ... A few years ago there was a kind of youth hostel in one part of the building. Unfortuantely it was closed, but it was a nice experience to "smell" the building ... :o)
