Getting TO/AROUND: Coming from ouside Italy: the Fiumicino apt is 40 minutes by car from the city center (new terminal just opened, end y2k); there's a train running from apt to the main station (Stazione Termini), you could rent a car but drivin in Rome is not so relaxing ... or get a taxi: for 40 euros you can go almost everywhere in the city. More info about the airport @ www.adr.it Underground is not so extended but it can drive you to right places where you can start walking ... and then just walk ... and walk ... and walk, this is the only way to get the feeling. Moving from one site to another one requests a map but put it in your backpack when hanging around the historical (well, almost everything in Rome is historical ;-) areas: just try to get lost !
