While heading to Woerlitz coming from Leipzig it seemed a good idea to visit the BauHaus site in Dessau. BauHaus is probably the most known design school name all over the world; founded in Weimar in 1919 it's moved in Dessau in 1925 due to political situation in Weimar. Noawaday BauHaus is committed to urban spaces rethinking following general decrease in population. Buildings in Dessau are on heritage list by UNESCO. |

Here follows the official justification issued by UNESCO: "The Committee decided to inscribe the nominated property on the basis of cultural criteria (ii), (iv) and (vi) considering that the site is of outstanding universal value since these buildings are the seminal works of the Bauhaus architectural school, the foundation of the Modern Movement which was to revolutionize artistic and architectural thinking and practice in the twentieth century." |
