Al Ain has many meaning in Arabic language. Here Al Ain means The Spring. Al Ain and Al Buraimi are a group of 12 oasis that were split between the UAE and Oman. Until 2-3 years ago people would travel between the 2 cities without the need for a passport or an ID. It used to be confusing some times in which country you are. This is no longer the case because there is a fence along the boarder that separate the 2 cities and the 2 countries.
Al Ain is home to the UAE University, The first and biggest university in the country. It is also home of the only public medical school.
