Ny-Ålesund is a great place. It's the northermost community on our planet (okay, there is "Alert" still more northerly, but that's a military base, not a civil town). People come here to work in the different fields of polar research. In the summertime, lots of Cruise ships spit out up to 2000 passengers a day, but they ca only walk through this nice town, visit the post office (northermost, you already guessed it) and leave - rather boring. If you come here to work, you have the great chance to stay long enough to explore the beatiful nature around the village. My advice: Don't come here unless you know really what you do.

Pros:Great nature, nice people
Cons:small, not much to see for an average tourist
