"Manila, my Manila" a Manila Travel Page by battlesmith

Probably due to its favorable location, Manila has always been a natural city center. Even before the arrival of the Spanish colonials, Manila is already a trading center between the local Tagalogs and other people. When the colonizers came, they have decided to start building a colonial capital in the same place. After purchasing the newly independent nation from the ex-colonizers, the Americans laid a plan to renovate and enlarge the existing city as if there were no other viable options. And after the Pacific side of the Second World War, the locals have started rebuilding the severely damaged city like there was no other land in the archipelago's 7,100 islands to build a capital.

And I'm thinking about this for the past few days. It probably has some sort of a magnet that attracts people (especially locals) and all. Now that could explain the alarming density of the population.
