The greatest city in the world

The Old Skyline
Yes I know. Very cliche. And probably one that would illicit a number of protests from people who are fans of other great places around the world. For me, from the years I have spent here and the times I have been back, New York is simply amazing. It has an energy you can feel, an air that you sense when you get off the plane. If I could live anywhere, I would be back in NY in a heartbeat.
Heaven bound...

Art everywhere

One of my favorite things about New York is the unintentional art .

Everything has a beauty and some artistic value. You just have to look with the right eyes.

I haven't always had good experiences in NY though... My wife and I are 9/11 Survivors. Too many details to share here. If you want to know more just ask, I'll be glad to share.

I had my camera with me that day. This is one of the quick pictures I snapped when I was finally able. It is less than 10 minutes before the North Tower came down.

But even a tragedy like 9/11 couldn't change New York or my feelings about it. I have visited since and it is just as amazing as it was before. The skyline has just changed a little bit.

Love your ode to the city--my thoughts exactly--NYC has palpable energy, doesn't it?

I feel compelled to make a visit to Ground Zero when I come to NY next fall, at least to say a prayer for all our fellow Americans whose lives were lost on this day. I miss seeing those towers in the skyline.
