Worked for the UN | Ceremony in Jojoima outside of Daru |
I worked with the UN from May 2003 through to February 2004. During my time in Sierra Leone I was posted in Kailahun which is located in the far easter region (the parrot's beak) of the country. Despite 85 to 90 % destructrion, I have never felt more welcomed by a group of people.
Living and working with the citizens of Sierra Leone was a life altering experience and one that has made me much richer as a person. I am a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and was fortunate enough to work with the Sierra Leone Police while I was there.
My hope for Sierra Leone is that peace and prosperity are the only cards in the future for thier fine citizens. One day I will return, hopefully to find a much stronger Sierra Leone. |
