I was fortunate to work under a research grant from the Japan Foundation, and stay at their Kansai research center. They provide generous support for dozens of researchers and students, and even let us try wearing kimono.

Tajiri Sky Bridge, Sennan

Osaka is Japan's second-city. The first capital of the nation, a center of commerce and industry, and famed for business and pleasure. But just south of the city lies Senshuu, home to Sakai (one of the only cities open to the outside world during the Edo period), Kishiwada (an old castle city famous for its Danjiri festival), and Sennan (not really famous for anything, but home to Kansai International Airport and, temporarily, me). Don't miss the rivers, onsens (natural hot springs), and country living.

OK, so technically Kinkakuji is not in Osaka but in neighboring Kyoto. And technically the party shown in this photo never actually happened. And it probably gives you more insight into my strange mind than life in Osaka-fu. But I like it, and this is my introduction page.
