set among palm trees on beautifull sai nuan beach, sai thong bungalows are only accessible by longtail boat. The Bungalows are very basic with cold water only, all are equiped with fans and mosquito nets. they all have balconies with hammocks on them. electricity is available from 6pm till 1 am. The restaurant serves delicious food at very reasonable prices. the staff were all very polite. there is no night life or tvs at sai thong but the Siam Cookies bungalows next door has a bar/disco right on the beach. Sai thong has a spa and massage centre, beach volley ball court, small library. There is a scuba shack right on the beach where you can hire snorkel equipment. The water around the resort is clear and full of fish and coral.

i stayed here last year (see my previous review)and ended up here again this year and noted a lot of changes for the better. they now have an internet cafe (wifi) and the restaurant menu has been upgraded extensively. and it is under new management with far friendlier staff. the spa was undegoing extensive renovations and will look great when its finished. oh and the prices have stayed the same!

Unique Qualities: its very private and difficult to get to. you can only get here by longtail boat taxi from mae haad, or you can walk (not reccommended if you are carrying luggage or have kids with you)
the snorkeling is excellent

I spent 3 days at this resort. The service was great. the snorkeling was fantastic and the staff very helpful and friendly. it is pricy and the restaurant is expensive but the food is of a very high standard. breakfast was included in the price. Note that no plastic bottles or cans may be taken to nangyuan and you may not use fins when snorkeling as this damages the coral reef. i paid for a fan bungalow but was kindly given an airconditioned bungalow at no extra cost as they had no fan rooms available when i got there. each bungalow has a dvd player and tv and they have a library of dvds at the reception which are free for guests to use. a lot of day visitors visit nangyuan between 10am and 3pm. but after that it is very quiet.
i really loved nangyuan

Unique Qualities: there is a pathway to the top of the hill on one of the islands which is well worth the climb as the views are outstanding. i would most certainly reccommend this resort.

i have stayed at this bungalow resort on two previous occasions and really enjoyed it. this time was a great dissapointment. they are under new management and the spa is no nonger in use, they dont service the rooms anymore, the internet/library/wifi room is closed. when you go for dinner you have to put up with raucus loud rock music. they no longer sell anything at the reception desk (mosquito repelent, torches, etc) and they no longer show movies in the dining area. the rooms are not being maintained and are starting to look really tatty and worn out.

i was surprised at how dirty the place was. there was litter all over the place on the beach the grassy areas under and around the bungalows. which is a pity because it is such a beautiful beach. the bungalows are very very basic and the bathrooms are filthy. the floor hadnt been cleaned in months, i bought my own cleaning stuff and gave it a good scrub down. the bed linen was also dirty, i had to ask then to change the bed linen. the snorkeling at aow leuk is probably some of the best on the island but it is obvious that one of the 4 resorts is pumping their sewage into the sea as there was a stinky brown sludge washing up
in places along the beach and i saw some poo floating in the sea while snorkeling (no, it wasnt a sea cucumber!). after 1 night i moved to the resort next door, (sun & son Bungalows)its very small with only 3 bungalows but immaculate and clean and with great food. admittedly aow leuk bungalows charge 450 baht per night and Sun & son charge 800 Baht
but the difference was well worth it.
