Pennsylvania is a big place. People there are either "East" or "West", I guess the "Central" folk just sorta stick to themselves. I am a born and bred "East PA" girl. 25 years in Allentown and I had never had the desire to visit the burgh, a quick 5 hour car ride from home. |
Anyhoo, after one weekend out there, I was hooked. Now I jump at the chance to visit this compact, lil city. It's easy to get around and has a lot to do (day or night). My trips since then have included a Pirates game, plenty of bars, watching fireworks and viewing a giant gingerbread house contest. The city is quite easy to navigate so you can around in a small amount of time, which makes it great for a weekend getaway. So whether you're looking for night-life or you have a fetish for bridges, Pittsburg is a really great place to hit up sometime. |

I hope all those bridges don’t charge tolls. | starship Tue Apr 15, 2008 18:22 UTC Thanks for the great tips! We'll be there over Memorial Day, and the Metro info. is really helpful! | Nemorino Mon Oct 15, 2007 22:52 UTC Glad to hear that the T is free to use within the downtown city limits. I think Vancouver has something similar. This is one of the few North American transport options that European cities would do well to copy. |
