Hanging Out in San Fran

My frist trip to San Francisco was when I was only seven or eight, but I vividly remember Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz and, of course, Ghiradelli Square. When I returned this past November, I got to see a lot of the sights that have sat in my memory all these years...along with plenty of new ones.

The weather was spectacular, a pleasent fall day with lots of sun and we covered a lot of ground in a short amount of time. I'm excited to go back and see more of the city.

We traveled to San Fran from Oakland by Ferry. The view of the city and Bay area from the water was great. You can park your car cheaply south of the city, take the subway (BART) into Oakland and the ferry into San Francisco. Doing this allowed us to see a lot more in a short period of time.
Brave enough to try to walk around town? Get in shape first. Joe is in fantastic shape...me...not so much. Those hills are killer, but you can feel the calories being burned off (especially after you've downed a creamy Irish Coffee).

After a nice hike up some of those hills, check out a Cable Car Ride. It was fun, and turned out to be free (something free in California, Whoa!!!).

The waterfront area is nice, but spend more time wandering around the rest of the city. There are some spectacular views of the Bay from the tops of those hills and you'll be able to get away from the touristy crowds down below.

Wow. San Francisco gets a "best ever" crab sandwich from a former Marylander. Impressive. We love Baghdad by the Bay, too. Nice peek.

Nice S.F. page. The Buena Vista claims to have brought Irish Coffee to the US. It’s a great drink for a typical SF night. By the way, Jameson does work well as the main ingredient! I’ll have to give the Hang Ah Tea Room a try sometime.

Thanks for visiting my Toronto page, Laura. The Steam Whistle Brewery tour is superb, I highly recommend it! Great SF tips and pics here - the food is Chinatown sounds fantastic!

San Francisco was my first city in the US. I was 18 year old. I visited 10 years again and look forward to my next visit. i love this city - something open, free and romantic. Have a nice day.
