So college may be over, but I can still study abroad, right? So from July to August, 2006 I enrolled in the Instituto Italiano in the heart of Florence. |
| | Art everywhere Wherever you look in Florence, you'll find sculptures, outdoor frescos and breathtaking architecture. From the outdoor gallery at the Piazza Signoria to just staring at the colors of the Duomo, Florence is not the city to disappoint art lovers.
Not a big art person myself, the works found here are so renowned that even I knew the importance of what I was looking at. Even the tombs of great artists and writers are found here, including Galileo and Dante. Grab a gelato or a cappuccino and just wander and take it all in. |
Mmmm... While you're in Italy, don't miss the gelato (wonderfully rich ice cream) and the coffee. Yes, this country is known for its wine, but seriously, the Chianti's got nothing on the strawberry gelato and a nice cafe latte.
Looking for a coffee that's not the size of a thimble? Order "cafe americano con latte", it's espresso with some water and milk added and is similar to a strong American coffee. |
