There's nothing better after a long days work than plopping down on a barstool in an dingy, dark, empty bar, lighting up an illegal cigarette and watching an Irish bartender named Elvis pour 90% vodka into a glass, top it with a sprinkle of soda and call it a mixed drink.

If that's your cup of tea too, meet me at the Mission Bar or Dovre. But if you'd rather sip on an $9 mojito and mingle in a packed bar with the pretty folk .... well, you'd be better off "slumming" it at Medjool or Blondie's, you yuppie.

The pic is of JP and Atousa. JP is modeling some Shamrock tin foil thing that he pulled down from the wall and put on his head. Atousa says "beleaeadljgreoaljsl!!!!!" in support. See, if you were here, you'd be having this much fun too.

    Encore: Best Karaoke in Town
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Nightlife Spot: Encore

We somehow always end up at Encore after we've gotten thouroughly trashed at another bar, mostly because this is the only time we have the guts to sing in front of other people. Luckily Encore is fine with that... lots of space, big drinks and excellent song selection (American-centric, not Asian-centric). The owner is very nice and offered to be our tour manager when we did the most awful rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody.

Here's Atousa the night we put on fake unibrows with eyeliner and sang an Oasis song... nay, an Oasis RE-ENACTMENT. Halfway through the song, I sat down and started throwing peanuts at "Noel"(or is it Liam??) and heckling her in a British accent. No one else got the joke, and the owner made us clean up our peanuts.

Your info was helpful. Can you recommend nice hotels, not too expensive, in an area which will be amenable to 2 travelers who have never been to S.F. Thanks
