Dust of Dubai
A wonderful opportunity to be in the buzy blur of Dubai as it becomes the centre of the globe.
So much to feel, touch, smell and see here that my senses are in overload even after just 3 short months. How do the tourists manage just a shop-over?
As it takes a few weeks to settle into a new country, we hadnt seen many local sights. So it was wonderful to have a visitor as we saw so much.
5 days is NOT enough to "DO Dubai", you need at least 7 full days we decided.
We started with the Dubai Museum, giving a great overview of the 20-year history of Dubai (thats about how young the place is) it was an introduction to the dust of Dubai.
We trekked the textile souk, spice souk, old souk, gold souk, rode the Abra (water taxi) up the creek, ate out heaps- thats the Dubai pastime on Fridays, eating and shopping. We visited some sensational hotels, such as the Emirates Tower, Jumeriah Beach, Meridian, Grand Hyatt, One & Only and into the Burg, which was a highlight with its dancing fountains and sensational view. Of course there was the Marina, also with a dancing fountain, Ski Dubai, a couple of malls with kilometers of granite floors and some galleries ......never a dull moment in Dubai.
