I'd love to go back there again! While not exactly a hop and a skip away from the rat-race that is Manila, Cagbalete Island in Mauban, Quezon is a good place to forget the stresses of city living.
I have been to Mauban before but this is the first time I heard of this little island destination. Thanks VT member Moymoy for sharing this place with me. :)
Cagbalete Island is 6.5-7 hrs. away from Manila. To get there means having to spend part of the day on the road and taking a little boat ride.
I found Villa Cleofas Cagbalete Island Camping Resort to be a very laid-back sort of place. There's a lot of shade trees on the beach with a hammock suspended on each limb. One is spoiled for choice when it comes to finding the perfect spot for sunrise or sunset viewing or just taking a nap while being serenaded by the sound of the waves and cicadas. :)
The owners are very accommodating and the staff very helpful. According to my friends they can source the best tasting Lambanog ever! Hehehe! I can attest to the fact that they serve a perfectly cold San Mig Light anytime you want one! |
