First stop, Jo'burgh!
Jo'burgh was my first contact with South Africa, since most of the flights arrive here rather than Cape Town.
The city isn't beatiful, you have rich quarters like Sandton and Rosebank and very dangerous place like Hillbrow, Yeaoville and Berea, where you better don't walk around if you're not black.
Also, it is very strange to see rich houses and few kilometers away shacks.
The best way to visit Jo'burgh is to make a trip with a small bus with a local agency; it is also the safest way to visit the city, because car-hijackings are not rare.
In the suburbs of Jo'burgh you can see some yellow mountains: they are the old gold mines dumps, nowadays the remaining memories of the past.
Don't miss Museum Africa and the Apartheid Museum.
Be sure to visit also Soweto, where the black people started their war against the apartheid and the 60 km far Pretoria, the Capital symbol of the boer pride.
