"Chiang Mai" Chiang Mai by Cathy&Gary

Chiang Mai Travel Guide: 1,869 reviews and 4,672 photos

Chiang Mai is Thailand's second largest city and is about 700 kilometres north west of Bangkok.

Chiang Mai is also known as the Rose of the North and I have to say I have never seen such beautiful rose gardens, especially in Bhubing Palace. It is not as humid here due to its altitude, but can still be pretty hot.

The city is located in a small valley on the banks of the river Ping, the old city is surrounded by a moat and some of Chiang Mais most famous temples are in here.

We were lucky enough to have 20baht return airfares from Phuket – Bangkok –Chiang Mai so decided to spend 6 days here.

We hired a car and it was easy to get around with good roads etc.

There is so much to see and do in Chiang Mai, you are surrounded by history and culture and if your after good quality shopping eg carvings etc, then this is definitely the place to go.

Sounds like you had a great time here. So much to see and do, nice places, great crafts and shopping. Love your painted purse, that would have been a talking point at home.
