This is also a lovely quiet, friendly place. Ming was married to an Aussie guy who died a couple of years ago; she is quite the chatterbox but a lovely lady. All sorts of food here, when you just feel like something plain and boring she makes the best toasted ham, cheese & tomato sandwiches, topped off with an icy cold Milo

Favorite Dish: Toasted Ham, Cheese and Tomato sandwich. (For when you just want a plain old sandwich)

Restaurant Name: Nong James Restaurant.

On the beach road towards Club Andaman there are 3 similar type restaurants in a row, Nong James is in the middle, nothing flash, plastic chairs, daggy table setting but wow they have great tasty good priced meals.

The tiger prawns were perfect; another favorite was the garlic & pepper prawns which I think cost about 250Baht.

The 9 of us ate here a couple of times and everyone loved it, happy friendly staff.

Highly recommend Nong James Restaurant.

Restaurant Name: Karon Cafe

They have the best brekkie buffet, a real bargain in a lovely setting for 125Baht.

Favorite Dish: Absolutely love their buffet breakfast. Eggs cooked any way you want, unlimited supply of crispy bacon, small spicy sausages, potatoes, rice, hash browns, baked beans, toast etc etc, fresh juices, tea/coffee. It has to be the best place for breakfast!!!

Restaurant Name: Family Mansion 2

Family Mansion

We had never heard of this place until some friends who live in Phuket invited us there for dinner.

Well we will certainly go back again, one of our group was a chef and he said the steak he had there was one of the best he has had.

My curry was also the hottest I’ve ever had.

Fantastic place with cheap prices.

Restaurant Name: Savoy Restaurant

Last year we had some great meals at Savoy restaurant, but after this trip we will probably never go back. It’s very overpriced and over-rated compared to what is available elsewhere. Maybe they have changed chefs, our meals were dry and tasteless, tiger prawns very overcooked, a couple of meals were sent back, once this happened our table of 9 was ignored for drink service etc.

There are lots of seafood restaurants on Rat-U-Thit Rd, so we ventured off to one called 99 Restaurant, another mistake, as expensive as Savoy (maybe a bit more) and the food was crap. Never again. We are not picky eaters but when we have to pay good money we expect good food.

Restaurant Name: Royal Paradise Hotel

The buffet here is on every night and only cost 150Baht.

As soon as I saw the sign advertising 10 desserts, that was it, we were going.
I wanted a sweet fix.

Well the buffet choices for main courses were pretty good but dessert was sooo disappointing.

I think when they say 10 desserts they are counting the condiments as well, all there was was a smelly foul tasting pudding type of thing and lots of bowls of coconut, sprinkles etc.

However for 150Baht it was still worth it.

Restaurant Name: Islander Bar & Restaurant

We have been going to the Islander Bar & Restaurant for over 10 years now. Their prices for food and drinks is good. The meals are huge and meat is imported from Australia and New Zealand.

(I have only ever had one bad meal there and it was when I decided to try local beef instead of imported, yuk guess we are pretty spoilt for meat here in Australia).

Nice clean place (good clean western toilets) and great staff.

Favorite Dish: We love the All Day Big British Breakfast, its huge and only cost 175Baht!!
Nothing tastes better when you have had a big night the night before.

Fried tomato
saute potatoes
Toast (with butter & jam)

We have eaten here a few times over the years and once again absolutely no complaints.

Meals were delicious and big serves. They also have a free salad bar.

All their beef is imported and their menu has European, Thai & International choices.

We highly recommend you have a meal here!!

Restaurant Name: Molly Malone's

Molly Malone's is a great place for a cold beer (100Baht for a pint of beer) or meal. The staff are friendly and the airconditioning is nice and cold!!.

There are lots of TV screens showing all the sports events, (ARL & AFL live) Have a look at their website, its shows the times of all the sporting events which will be telecast.

Meals are very reasonably priced and hearty serves, the big breakfast is only 300Baht and you get 3 eggs any style, English sausage, baked beans, grilled pork loin, pan fried mushrooms, bacon rashers, sautéed potatoes & baked bread. Served with a pot of tea or coffee.
They also make the best apple crumble with custard and ice cream for 180Baht. The full menu and prices are also on their website.

Molly Malones is extremely family friendly and I would highly recommend going there.
