In 2007 we spent 2.5 months in Cambodia and Phuket . We stayed at Swiss Palm Beach Hotel at the northern end of Patong Beach and the hoel exceeded our expectations! ( We have already booked for another 3 months in Phuket in 2008) For our 2007 photos of hotels, tours etc click here: Cathy's Photo PagesI also have a much bigger website on Phuket that is updated often, there is a lot more information there, so have a look: Cathy & Garys Travel Pages2006 There are quite a few photos of some layouts of different rooms in the hotels we stayed in for those of you who may be considering staying there. After Cambodia we went to KL for 3 nights before departing for Phuket where we met my sister Angie, brother in law Brett and 5 more friends who had just flown in from Brisbane. The last time we saw Angie and Brett was in September last year in Cambodia and Phuket. On arrival at Andaman Beach Suites (Phuket) everyone was given glasses of orange juice, but Gary and I were given cocktails as we were return guests. They also gave us a mini suite on the 18th floor so we had great views. Across our bed was a huge banner saying Welcome Home and a lovely bowl of fruit with a card saying Welcome Back, so that was a nice touch. |
| | We only lasted in this room for 3 nights as our air conditioning kept breaking down, the engineer was sent up about 4 times to fix it, each time he would say, its ok now, but a few hours later it was a sweat box again. That was it, we have had enough, and after a night of hardly any sleep off we went to the front desk.
They moved us to another room on the 6th floor (room 612) WOW, what a room, twice the size of a mini suite, lovely furniture, 2 huge separate balconies. Would definately recommend this room!!!
This room soon became known as the party room as the 9 of us could fit in there comfortably.
Well, first night in this room you will never believe it, the air con broke down, the way we are going we will end up in the Presidential Suite!!
Once again they send in the engineers (2 of them this time) only the fan was working, so after an hour of mucking around it was re gassed etc and working beautifully from then on.
Ok now its time for bed, turn off the lights but one of the main lights in the room kept coming back on, oh no I have to ring front desk again, so in come the Electricians, the switch had to be replaced, so there they are, playing with the wires, replacing switches etc and they didn’t even turn the power off. Amazing.
All of these mishaps we minor and we had a great stay at Andaman Beach Suites and highly recommend the place.
OOPS one more tiny mishap. On check out day Gary and I thought we would get in first before the rest of our group, so called the bell boy to bring luggage rack up to our room and while he was loading it off we went to the lifts to go downstairs.
We got to the first floor and stood there in the lift, hey what’s going on the bloody lift doors wont open, Gary is wanting to push all these buttons and I’m saying NO what if we are really in between floors, so I’m trying to send a text message to Angie saying, Help we are stuck in the lift.
Anyway after what seemed like ages (was actually only a few minutes) Gary hit a button and the doors opened, whew what a relief. Everyone beat us to checkout, even our luggage was already there ha-ha. |
Anyway we all met up with Phuket Richard and organized things we wanted to see and do. Some of the main things we did as a group were, Kok Chang Safari ATV TourFishing & Snorkeling Trip, John Gray Starlight Tour, Sunset View Point, dinner at Rawai Beach and the Sunshine Bar. Another very popular night out among forum members is the Friday Night all you can eat BBQ for 150 Baht at Rawai Mini Golf, then everyone heads off to the Sunshine Bar. For the very best site on Phuket, have a look at Ted's Phuket Delight, everything you wanted to know about Phuket is there, hotels, driving trips, restaurants, beaches plus much more.
