"Augusta National - The Masters" Augusta by Kagan

What can one say after walking through the gates of Augusta National. I'm not sure about the other first-timers, but all i could say was WOW! The place is amazing. The course is beautiful; the volunteers were as friendly as could be; the players were approachable (practice rounds). Even the boys in the green jackets surprised me with regards to how engaging they were. Kuddo's to Hootie & staff - job well done.
The Masters - It's an experience I wont soon forget.
Amen Corner - Holes # 11, 12, 13. Most famous 3 holes in golf. In my opinion, the moment you realize you are actually at Augusta is the moment you step into the 'Corner'. That's when it hit me anyway, actually got goosebumps.
Standing behind the 18th tee is quit the site. Not as tight as I thought, but still pretty darn intimidating. 16 was cool place to plop yourself down for a bit as this is where the pro's would skip their golf ball across the pond and onto the green at the request (or demand) of the spectators. Also the hole where Tiger made that amazing chip-in 2 years ago. I think I could make that shot....yeah, right.
Does not appear to be a flat lie on the course. The undulation of thegreens cannot be appreciated on T.V. The slope on number 6...forget about it.
All in all, you will never see a course quit like Augusta National.
Very approachable I thought. Phil was always smiling, Tiger was Tiger, but Mike Weir seemed a little cold. John Daly was himself, which is refreshing, especially at his trailer in the Hooter's parking lot. A must see (Hooters that is).
Larry Mize impressed me by the time he took with the fans seeking autographs. Not only did he sign his name, but he also asked for yours. Personalized each and every one for at least an hour.
Anyway, this is what makes the practice rounds so unique. Players are approachable, It the only time you can get autograph, and you can bring your camera in.
- Pros:It's Augusta
- Cons:Not one that i can think of
- In a nutshell:I will be back!
They ask too much. Want to get a cheap ticket to walk the grounds, wait until someone comes out in the afternoon and... more travel advice
