What is this town?

Well, this is how I got started on VT. I saw a bad review of things to do or some such tips about Tusayan Az. I wanted to post a reply, and next thing you know I've got my own pages! I can't even find that first page :>
So rather than a direct response, here's a little on the community directly outside the Grand Canyon National Parks South Entrance.
Like most all small communities outside a park, it's main reason to be there is to support the overflow from the park. Tusayan is unique in that that is the ONLY reason it is there. Due to a total lack of water there is no residential community or condos. No golf course no community center, no mall or library. No business that is not tourist oriented. All water for those businesses must be hauled into town by tanker truck.
So if you're looking for an air or jeep tour, a room and a meal, this is the place to be. Even in such a utilitarian community it is possible to have fun. There is a small bowling alley in one hotel, open to all. There are lounges in a couple of the hotels that are fun and family freindly. The National Geographic Imax theater is a must see for all. Across the street is a great pizza joint.
Tusayan, even with it's space and water limitations. is a good place to base your Grand Canyon explorations from.
