We went on a Carnival cruise to the Bahamas ( Nassau) for Thanksgiving and had a great time on the ship and in Nassau.

Nassau was actually much better than expected. I had been there before (20 years ago) and not liked it much, but our experience this time was very good.
We walked around downtown Nassau, up to one of the forts, and then across the bridge to Paradise Island where we went to Cabbage Beach.

The Bahamas are a bunch of small but beautiful islands in the Eastern Caribbean, south- east of Florida. The water is very blue and usually calm but we had huge waves.
I love the beaches there.

Atlantis

Nassau and Paradise Island have many expensive luxory resorts including the famous Atlantis, which is just about the first large building you see when arriving by ship.

There are a lot of other nice hotels but the good thing is that all beaches there are still public, so if you want to get to any beach without having to stay at a hotel or pay for the day fee, you can just walk between the hotels and get there.

Nassau

A lot of people seem to visit Nassau to shop. Lots of jewelery stores, designer stores and tourist traps, plus liquor stores selling rum.
We bought some rum cakes that are made locally.

The most famous tourist trap is the Straw Market , but we avoided that.
