Mountains We went to Maine in 2007 because it was one of the last 7 States we had not been to, plus to climb its highest point, Mount Katahdin 5268 Feet. It is the toughest mountain to climb in the eastern U.S. We just went back over Christmas to go skiing and had a great time doing that also!! On the way back, we visited Portland, the largest city in Maine. I think I have decided this is the place I would love to live, if I could live anyplace. |

Maine Coast The coast of Maine is very scenic looking, lots of rocks , lighthouses and fishing villages. This one , the Bass Harbor lighthouse, is still in use and has someone living in it. |
Acadia National Park As all U.S. National Parks we've been to so far, this one is absolutely beautiful. The coastline has lots of cliffs, rocks, and also small mountains to climb to get a good look at the Atlantic ocean. Even if it is not quite as spectacular as Yellowstone for example, I could live here!! It is very relaxing to just sit on the rocks and look at the ocean. |
