    Getting TO/AROUND: You can get up the highest mountain of Germany, the Zugspitze several ways. We started out on the German side in Garmisch Patenkirchen, and purchased a family ticket up the mountain and back at the train station. The choice of how one goes up and back down is up to the individual, it all costs the same. We went up with the train, then the last small distance to the top in a small gondola and back down to the Eibsee in the other gondola, and from there back on the train. You could also take the train both ways, or the gondola both ways if you wanted to. I liked both. The train gave you enough time to see the area, the gondola was very high up and you have spectacular views. The train was more comfortable since the gondola was crowded and most people were standing.
    (there is also a gondola on the Austrian side of the mountain near Reutte)
