"Have Feet Will Travel" Jomerlion's Profile
Joining VT is a good start to drawing up my travel wishlist. I am about to make a wish come true and it's getting closer to my imagination. I also realise that you can get sort of hooked on VT once you started to read travelogues and tips posted here.
My travel wishlist for Sept - Osaka & Tokyo, Japan then to USA (San Francisco) do I have enough time to do all three? I'll leave SF for my next solo wings since my friend is so keen to explore Japan with me.
Unfortunately, I didn't make it to San Francisco and Tokyo - hotels and flights could not be confirmed even after the long wait ( and my travel buddy bailed out last minute...sighh...)
Just returned from Osaka, it was my first visit to Japan. I wasn't expecting to visit Osaka - didn't even have a map and it was kind of a last minute decision. Fortunately, my friend Yvonne did most of the groundwork and we had a virtual guide that was connected to us most of the time via mobile and SMS. Thanks to my friend's husband. We got around fine, the challenging part was of course, finding our way around the train and subway stations.
I enjoyed the mystical sights of Kyoto where ancient temples prevailed. How can one miss the famous shrine of Happiness? Festival of the Gion was celebrated just after the day we visited the many shrines in and around Kyoto. We even caught a glimpse of Geisha-Maikos in broad daylight, though most would only come out around late afternoon. We obviously had had a hard time trying to catch them on camera.
What strikes me most these days are the art events in Singapore, scaling to international heights with the current "Singapore Biennale" Visit http://www.singaporebiennale.org/.
It's a great move, you get people to move around different parts of Singapore, exploring even religious grounds, the mosque, churches, temples to see different artworks. I hope the visiting V'Ters would enjoy your visit at this time....festival ends 21 Nov.
Hi, this is Jomerlion, it's a union between myself and this Merlion City, hmmm, I do sound patriotic , don't I? I am born and bred in Singapore and have lived long enough to see the changes taking place in this city.
Travelling is one of my many passions, I have to mention art as the other. Art, nature and travelling are combinations that make me feel alive. I enjoy learning about other countries and their cultures. I have travelled quite a bit but never enough. I have yet to step foot on all continents. I definitely would love to spread my wings to see more places, I think I've come to the right site, there is just so much useful information. I hope to learn and exchange travel tips on this really wonderful website. Why VT ? this is a truly informative website, for serious travelers or people looking for tips or need a little help for their first time travel destination, definitely a great disappointment to those seeking a date or cheap thrills, whoa..ho, real V'Ters have more important things to do.
So what now, open our minds and eyes to see places that this world offers, its beauty sights, sounds and all the people in it. The Merlion City can be a little crowded that's why we need to see different places and get out a little from time to time. There are many places that I would go back time and again and one of them is Paris. Merci
