Mlinice Boarding House, Makarska: Simply the best!

This accomodation is simply the best I have ever stayed in anywhere. Superb location, some way up a hill at side of mountain. Our room was a fair size with en suite, had a mosquito net over the bed if required (we did not need it) and a balcony with a view to die for, perfectly situated for sunset and views over the islands and Makarska.
Our host, Ivan, was an incredibly friendly and nice guy, he could not do enough for us. Would have picked us up at bus station if we had phoned him, drove us down into Makarska a number of times, also when we left with our luggage. We had discussed various types of tea and Sue mentioned she liked Camomile tea - lo and behold he had bought some specially and served it next morining.
Beautiful building with terraces and places to sit outside, plenty of walks to hamlets/villages, fig and fruit trees abound. Breakfast was huge (did not know where to start) with fresh breads and pastries and fruit, ham, cheese, conserves, cereal, etc culminating in one of Marijana's (Ivans lovely partner) famous omelettes, delicious! Served in Breakfast room which has TV and lots of books. Also display of various presents he has received from other happy guests. 35 Euros per night for twin room.
I recommend this 'boarding house' 200% from all aspects - truly relaxing, comfortable, friendly, beautiful property and views, Ivan and Marijana are wonderful hosts
Note - would not suit anyone with walking problems who does not have a car. Up a steep lane. But we are aged 59 and 64 and had no problem, enjoyed the walk. Initially took 40 minutes then only 20 minutes. Car access and parking is good.

Unique Qualities: Unique quality is Danni's music, during and after dinner he would sing and play his accordian, traditional Croatian music. Local guests would sing and dance, the atmosphere and ambience was truly indescribable!
I also recommend this restaurant 200%, the best if you want to meet local people, traditional music and dancing and excellent food (and it won't break the bank) and you don't have far to go to bed!
