We stayed here in February, 2006 and found it really convenient to amenities and sights. Great location and our double room (clean and with a fridge) on the 8th floor had Nile River views (AUD$100) and included a great breakfast.
Internet cafe across the road and a great 'Metro' supermarket around the corner for supplies.
Only hassle - the doormen who have taxis ready to go and for a price. Walk around to the main road and taxis are half the price (and also not looking for extra trips or fares from you).
We are planning our 3rd trip and we'll stay here again.
(Taxis tend to be a hassle in Egypt, especially when leaving train stations and airports. Be ready for them and have an idea of how much the fares should be, by asking the locals in hotels etc.)
Unique Qualities: Great Nile River views - to the west.
Wonderful breakfasts - french pastries to die for!
Friendly hotel staff.
