Things To Do: Walking the Canals

There are three major Canals of Murano:
Canal Grande Di Murano (which turns into Canal Degli Angeli)
Rio Dei Vetrai and
Canal Di San Donato
The shortest of visits will include at least a stroll along Fondemente (the paths running along the canals) of the the first 2, and probably all 3. Glass shops line all the canals; The fondemente along Rio Dei Vetrai are more peacful as it is smaller and the larger boats don't venture here.
The Island is very manageable and a 1/2 day here should allow you to see all the sites.

A beautiful, uniquely designed churches on the Island of Murano. This is one of the oldest Churches int he lagoon, dating back to the major settlements of the 7th century.
The floor of the church has a lavish mosaic made of marble and colored glass, dating from the1100's. This floor was in poor condition and a much needed restoration was done in the 1970's largely with American funding.
