"the most serene"

A Unique View from our Cruise ship
“Venice is like eating an entire box of chocolate liqueurs in one go.” Truman Capote
Rare snow on the Gondole

Enchanting any time of year

Over the past year we have been able to visit this most unique of Cities in each of the seasons. A city of Grand Palazzi, more than 200 Churches, 118 Islands, and many more bridges. Venice itself is one large Museum of Art, culture, History and Architecture.

As the page comes together, the tips work like this: under things to do, after the 1st tip "Venice in a Day", the tips go in order of Piazza San Marco and surroundings, and then the sights you'll see on the Grand Canal heading back to the Station, ending at the tip "San Simione Piccolo" which is right across from the station.

"In the winter, Venice is like an abandoned theater. The play is finished, but the echoes remain.” Arbit Blatas

Many a nickname...

Queen of the Adriatic, City of Canals, and many more.

There's only one Venice, but plenty of other cities claim to be "the Venice of...", here's a few:
The Venice of the North - Bruges-BE, Stockholm
The Venice of the South - Sete-FR
The Venice of the East - Bankok
The Venice of the West - Nantes-Brazil, San Antonio-TX

Then you've got the U.S cities named Venice in the states of: California, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, & New York.

And the country name Venezuela means "little Venice".

I have been to Venice while serving in the US Military Police a few years ago. I would really like to come back and bring my wife.
