"SUGBU/CEBU" a Province of Cebu Travel Page by gemi80

when i was growing up, our parents brought us in cebu every vacation. and i din't like it before. compared to home province where i still could see carabaos and vast rice fields that time, i din't have a high regard of cebu. i hated the traffic jam, the smog altho by present standards, it couldn't even be considered a jam yet.

when it was time to attend college, it was of no question that i'll go to cebu. since then cebu has been my home ...so far soo good. well, except for the floods(they say it's the poor drainage, some say it's the garbage, <y can't the government just scrap the whole plastic industry> i say, it's us man!) everytime it rain hard and limited cuisine the restos offer,cebu is a good place to settle.it is on neutral ground. a fusion of provincial and urban lifestyles.

beaches, mountains, malls..Sugbu got it all within reach,er, ok short drive will do.

too bad i don't have pics to show here, i guess that's the downside of living here. i tend to take advantage of everything, so i don't really go out of my way to capture any moment/site.i'm like, there's always another time to do/see this or that. but am sure, you don't have to go to the national archives to find some pics of cebu.

for me, you have to:

1. go to Basilica del Sto. Niño (catholic or non-cath, just go)
2. Magellan's cross (it's beside the basilica)..don't expect to see the original wood though.it's already encased.
3. eat SUTUKIL..you could go to Lapu-lapu for the true ambience (you know, beside the sea) or you could find some in the city.
4. go to TOPS(go there around dusk til dark)
5. hit the beach, make it plural, beaches --in Mactan or go to Bantayan Island or Camotes Island.
6. go to Taoist Temple..i don't really find these amazing but tourists go there, i mean, i did..ü Cebu has no chinatown, it is a chinatown in itself..so you could also find great decent chinese restos here.
7. if these aren't enuf, hop on a ferry..go to Bohol..that's beyond my territory already.. but i've been there,and it was great..
