My grandmother took BB to Salzberg in October 1976. DEB's family went in June of 2002. |
June 3, 2002 We arrived in Salzburg at about 1100, no problem. Then we tried to find our hotel...It was in the old section on a pedestrian street. The way I thought would get us the closest looked like a car park with a yellow arm, that we couldn't get to go up. When we tried to go around (the city and the mountain that is in the middle) we found that the one way road we wanted was closed for some reason. So, we had to go all the way around, way outside the city. When we found it they gave us directions to get to the end of the street. By then it was nearly 1230 and my huaband was at the end of his driving rope. We checked in, parked the car in the festival car park (included in the room) and ate lunch. Our son bought a puppet from a street vendor (he is now building the stage out of old boxes). That night we ate at a place that had outside tables and a playground. |
June 4, 2002 We took the Sound of Music tour in the morning. In the afternoon my husband and son rested and I did a little shopping. We ate an early dinner at the hotel (fabulous) and went to the Marionette show (A Midsummer's Night Dream). Our son had heard the story before, and we could all follow the plot even though the words were in German. The puppets were amazing. |

pchamlis Sun Mar 4, 2007 20:31 UTC One of my favorite cities in one of my favorite countries. :) I know what you mean about traffic...it CAN be confusing. Maybe one of those GPS things would help? |
