"Appignano Del Tronto" Appignano del Tronto by Alex-Perth

This is the Town where my mother was born.
A small village called Appignano Del Tronto.
Del Tronto is the name of a river that runs below it.
This little town is 190klms North of Rome. Peaceful and simple, with panoramic views as this town sits on the top of one of the many mountains that decorate the countryside.
It's been a while since my last visit (10 years) but apart from the new modern apartments that have popped up around the outer area, the main center of the village is still the same...
The streets are cobblestone which accommodates one car width... As long as it isn't too wide a car you shouldn't have any problems.
When I stayed here, my mothers parents place was next to a Bakery so the smell of fresh bread would waft through the windows daily... Hmmm... Memories...

Here is one of the small passageways that separate the streets in Appignano.. I went looking for my mums place again... Very emotional for me as memories of when I was last here and the first time I ever came here with mum and my brother... Great times...

I love this little Town

This is the door of where my mother was born...
Once inside, you go up to the top floor (third) the steps are very steep and hard... Mum lived with her parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers in a tiny 2 bedroom top floor... 8 people in such small confinement... I don't know how they did it... Well I do... Nonno was very strict and you were to behave or else get 'the belt'... When I first visited this town, being a lively 20yr old he found it hard to confine me indoors... So jokingly he would pretend to take his strap off... One night he sat outside my bedroom door to make sure I didn't go out!!!
He was a wonderful man and my Nonna was a beautiful woman...
