Just imagine what life was like in the times of the pharaohs with the glittering pyramids and richly decorated tombs and temples. Or in Islamic times after Egypt was conquered by the Arab army in 640 A.D. - considerable evidence of their importance still stands with the art & architecture of mosques and minarets in modern day Cairo and throughout Egypt. If you are fortunate enough to cruise the Nile by boat or felucca, you will see that except for an occasional satellite dish, not much has changed along it's banks since ancient times. Classical historians, Roman emperors, Arab travellers, adventurers and millions of tourists have been drawn to these lands to witness the greatness of an ancient & mysterious civilization. And so might you... My favorite photo from my Egypt travels is on my Edfu page. Another day, another sunrise is on my Aswan page And more great shots are on my Luxor and Cairo pages. |
| | PYRAMIDS Still standing after all these years - built c. 2589-2558 B.C. |
| | THE NILE Still flowing along past landscapes that look much the same as ancient times. Typical Nile scenes from my journey in 2008. |
