Cairo is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. It is divided into three main sections: Central Cairo, the heart of the modern city; Old (Coptic) Cairo which includes Gezira and Rhoda Islands; and Islamic Cairo with it's mosques, minarets, bazaars and congested maze of narrow streets. Unfortunately for me, I was only in Cairo for a blink of an eye - someday I'll return to further explore this huge metropolis. This photo was taken from the pyramids at Giza. |
| | EXPERIENCE CAIRO TRAFFIC The traffic in Cairo is famous for it's congestion. It must be experienced to be believed - it is truly one of the wonders of the world! At times kaleidoscopic and chaotic, drivers totally disregard the lines on the road and even red lights. They drive at night without their headlights! And they loooove their horns !! This is truly a city that never sleeps - the traffic flows and horns blare all night long. |
