Anastasia State Park

Since Saint Augustine is in Florida, we always should think in paying a visit to the beach. The Anastasia State Park is right on the way to the lighthouse... it has a camping area and next to that the path to the beach. It's windy and it may not be one of Florida's top beaches... but it's still nice and relaxing.

Plus, if you're into birdwatching... the park has some of the best spots in town.

Directions: From I-95 take exit 311 (old 94). Go east on State Road 207. Turn right on State Road 312. Turn left on A1A. Travel approx. 1.5 miles north to main park entrance. (Turn right after The Surf Station.)

It's a great way to understand why there are Spanish and British flags waving next to the American flag all over town. The tour is excelent... explains every single detail, especially the way the house was built and re-built and so on.

I didn't even know there were vines in Florida... well, there are... and if you like to taste different wines, these are definitively different. They have some dry whites, some very sweet reds, and even some fortified stuff (I can't remember if that was a port or a sherry).

Another very interesting thing was trying the native variety... muscadine. Sweet!!
