"Glacier National Park" Glacier National Park by doktorbombay

If you enter the park from West Glacier, Lake McDonald is the first major scenic attraction. Drive to Apgar Village, park and walk around. Cute little touristy shops at Apgar and a beautiful view of Lake McDonald. There are canoe rentals here, several trails, a grocery store, etc. Check to see if there are have been bear sightings in recent days. Throughout the park, park officials and employees are aware of grizzly sightings, and can usually tell you if any have been seen in the area recently. Glacier is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Take several of the side roads for even more spectacular viewing.

Going to the Sun Highway

Going to the Sun Highway is the only road that traverses the entire park. Quite narrows in spots, and several tight turns. In fact, they won't let you take trailers on this road, nor RVs of a certain length. We had a small Ford Escape rental vehicle, anything larger could have been challenging in spots. But, what a view!!

Logan's Pass, Glacier Natl Park

Glacier National Park has some of the most spectacular mountain vistas of all of the Rocky Mountains in the United States. The Canadian Rockies are equally spectacular. There are few amenities inside the park, a handful outside of the park. Most popular spots are West Glacier and St. Mary's at the east entrance.
