Puttapparthi is an arid area in Ananthapoor district, Andhrapradesh, 156km from bangalore and about 472km from Hyderabad. strewn with rocks and rare rain people are mostly in to rearing sheep and farming.

This is where bhagavan Sathya Sai Baba resides and is a welcome destination for the spiritually inclined .

Sai baba is thought to be the reincarnation of shirdi sai baba who lived in Ahmed Nagar in Maharashtra from 1837 to 1918. The present Sai lives in puttapparthy and is believed to live till 96 years of age. He is now 84 years.

He has three abodes , Puttapparthy the main one in andhra Pradesh , Whitefield in bangalore- Karnataka and kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu.

The ashram in puttapparthy is called prasanthinilayam. This once sleepy dusty village has been changed to a bee hive of activity with people all over the world flocking here for spiritual guidance.

With his Afro hair style he looks and speaks differently from most spiritual gurus.
