In November 2009, I stayed one night in Aquas Calientes...

Not because of the town itself, but to have more time at the ruins of Machu Picchu.... A night in Aquas Calientes will make it possible to visit Machu Picchu in the morning, before the tourists will arrive from Cusco on daytrips...

Aquas Calientes is a small town living from the tourists visiting Machu Picchu. It is filled with tour bureaus, internet cafés, souvenir shops, hotels, guest houses, and restaurants… I’m glad I only stayed one night here…

A fine new page with impressive photos of Machu Picchu! Interesting that they have three different types of trains going to Aquas Calientes, expensive, midrange and backpackers.
