New York, New York, such a wonderful town! I would like to dedicate this page to all of those who lost and were lost on 9/11.
On the few occasions that I had visited the States it always seemed to be to the west coast or mid-west, until my brother and sister suggested we visit New York. We were going to go in January so we had to think hard as we knew the weather would be bad...or cold to say the least, but as I live in a hot climate for most of the year, the thought of snow, and lots of it ,was too much to give up and so our first trip to NY was booked. We werent disappointed as on arriving at JFK it was -6C as dusk approached. Our first experience of a yellow cab was one we wont forget for a long time as he was the fastest driver ever!! It was rush hour traffic and as he swerved in and out of lanes we hung for dear life!! As he started to approach Manhattan Bridge, there before us stood the Manhattan Skyline in all its glory. Wow it was just like the movies.....we really were in New York City! |

gilabrand Sun Sep 7, 2008 13:22 UTC You are right - people in NY overheat their homes/stores/hotels - and the windows are nailed shut... | davesut Mon Jun 25, 2007 00:22 UTC Went to NY last Easter. Shame we cannot now get to the top of Lady Liberty at least we missed the stairs. Intrepid Air and SPace was shut for renovation too:( | uglyscot Tue Jul 4, 2006 18:08 UTC Your introductory photo is so poignant;more so than one my daughter took about a week before 9/11. Thanks for the virtual tour of this famous city. |
