L.A

Approaching LA
The only people who should be descibing LA are the people who live there! Im from England, live in Spain and want to share so much about LA but just dont know where to start. Ive visited this diverse City three times now. The first in 1978, the second in 2001 and then this year 2006, and apart from the stretch of the Hollywood Blvd that passes by the Hotel Roosevelt and the new Kodak theatre, nothings changed. I must admit Im not a lover of the Hollywood, Sunset Blvd area...think the skyscrapers in central LA are amazing, and have never ventured into the so-called dangerous areas to find out if they are! Whenever I see LA in films it always looks interesting but how do you find out where the interesting bits are other than the touristy places? ....You gotta live there!
So Im going to comment on all the things to do, or rather the things we did, Im going to recommend some restaurants and hotels and Im going to leave the real nitty gritty to the Los Angelinos
Beverly Wiltshire Hotel

Pretty Woman

Now Ive walked down Rodeo Drive, I stood outside that wonderful Hotel at the end, and I even stood under the fire escape that Richard Gere climbed up to claim Julia Roberts, but it still doesnt make me feel like Ive missed out by not staying longer in LA. I hopped from star to star along the Walk of Fame, placed my hands in the prints left by some pretty famous people in Graumans Chinese Theatre and steered clear of some very dodgy characters who came out of the woodwork at night along the Hollywood Boulevard....but nothing makes me want to return so Im going to take time out and read ALL the LA pages and hope to find a reason to go back next year. Who knows I might get invited to the Oscars!!!
