Finse is a stop on the railway between Bergen and Oslo, and lies 1222 meters above sea level. The place itself just consist of 2 trekkinghotels and several small summer/winter houses. There is no road to Finse, and so you rarely see or hear any cars, except from the train passing by now and then and maybe a snowmobile in winter.

South of Finse is the glacery of Jostedalsbreen, Norway's biggest glacery. In summer and wintertime there are tracks in both northern and southern directions.
