When one of my best mates said that he was getting married in the winelands around Paarl I knew that we were in for a good time in an amazing place. Paarl is simply gorgeous, nestled beneath the Simonsberg mountain range and guarding the entrance to the Franschhoek valley, it is an area of dramatic landscapes

Vrede en Lust, derived from the Dutch 'Peace and Eagerness', was established by French Huguenot Jacques de Savoye in 1688. The historic farm buildings have been restored with respect to their Cape Dutch origins and make the perfect venue for a wedding.

Vrede en Lust offers cellar tours, fine wines, function facilities, exclusive accommodation and light meals, a lively atmosphere and magnificent setting.

The farm house and surrounding buildings are great examples of the traditional Cape Duthc architectural style. They seem to sit perfectly in the winefarms and under the mountains.
