Amsterdam is great...it's so diverse and liberal. You can (and will) see just about anything and everything. Amsterdam is the sex capital of the world. The Red Light District holds hundreds of "strip clubs", sex bars, and legal prostitutes. Aside from the sex, soft drugs (such as marijuana and mushrooms) are legal in Amsterdam. It's such a chill and laid back place...a definite must-see on my list! Unfortunately, I never seem to have enough time to do all that I want to do while I'm there. There's so much to see, both within downtown and the surrounding areas. Bring your good walking (or biking) shoes, because cars are definitely a minority to pedestrians and bikers! Oh, and I would suggest taking a canal tour. Amsterdam has A LOT of canals, and it's the best (and probably the cheapest) way to see most of the city in a short amount of time.
