Moorea is the second most popular island to visit in FP. It is about 12 miles from Tahiti. You can get there by ferry in about 40 minutes for under $10US each way. You can relax on the beach, go snorkeling in the crystal clear water, do various rain forest tours, see a Polynesian cultural show etc... |
Snorkeling Snorkeling is excellent on Moorea. We saw lots of fish in all different bright colors. We also saw an octopus but he was a bit shy. |
Island Jeep Tour We did a jeep tour of the rain forest and it did rain on and off throughout the day. The tour went to the Toatea Lookout. To get there you drive on a road not much wider than the jeep up the side of a steep mountain. The only thing keeping you on the road is a chicken wire fence. We also visited the Belvedere Lookout, Moorea Distillery And Fruit Juice Cannery and Tetiroa Marae. ( marae= temple)
We also stopped along the way at an eco-station where they grow various fruits and even had one that was genetically engineered. It was called a Lemonade Fruit which was the combination of a grapefruit and lime. |
